Why would you get rid of a wonderful phone like the g1 ??? Probably the ads for the pre got you .....

Nothing new really. Just a guy got to hold one and take some pictures with the T-Mobile branding. But the site claims that it's coming very soon. Backing up Tmonews, etc.
I'm hoping it's VERY soon. I made the mistake of buying the Palm Pre, and giving my G1 to someone. So I'm stuck with this crappy phone, waiting on the Mytouch to come out so I can return the Pre.

I was always a palm fanboy back in the day... I got a bit excited at the thought of Palm returning with a vengeance.
So I suckered myself into buying it. WebOS is utterly amazing, but the hardware itself is garbage. The screen has minor distortions, and literally it seems as if I'm getting more dead pixel's on a daily basis. The keyboard is nicer than the G1 and the camera is awesome if not one of the best I've seen on a phone, and having true turn/by turn Nav is sweet... but still, for some reason Pre feels overall less durable than the G1, and just as creaky at this point. It's the kind of phone that you HAVE to have the insurance for if you intend on using it without fear.
Palm has also not released the SDK yet, and has given no time frame for when it's going to happen... So who knows when it will get an actual application thats decent. When the G1 launched, within a few weeks there were already some really cool and innovative applications, hell it had Shopsavvy from day 1. Right now, Palms launch applications are so weak, the only one worth mentioning is the Where app (that was already on the G1) and Pandora radio. Even the Classic OS emulator is total garbage.. Buggy, incompatible, and doesn't support any sound or web features (yet it cost 30 bucks to buy, and only has a 7 day trail).
So now I got until July 5th, to return the phone and get my number ported back to T-mobile. So I'm hoping that the Mytouch comes out by then.
Don't think thats likely, but what you can do is, before the time limit is up, switch to Verizon(hang on, stay with me a second) and use their 30 day trial, if its not out by then, give AT&T a shot for two weeks, then bounce back to Verizon until T-Mobile gets it. You'll have to pay for the minutes you use doing this, and prorated charges, but it keeps you out of contracts.
Take that Palm Pre back to the store...
Start Up time:
Speed Test: iPhone 3G S vs. Palm Pre
Yeah, tomorrow I'm going to have my number ported back to T-mobile, and stop the cancellation from completing.
I'll just go a week without the phone and see if the Mytouch is announced next week. Hopefully we get a concrete date.. If its to far out I'll just buy a new G1 and wait a while.
Leaving android? That is what you get. MUHAHAHAHAHA.
