So my G1 has had lots of little issues...The battery life has been HORRIBLE...im talking 2 hours with all the radios off. Today it was in standby for 7 hours, i made 1 phone call for 10 minutes, and it was dead by 2:00 after unplugging it at 8 am this morning. Also, the phone is ALWAYS in roaming mode, for some strange reason, even though we have great tmobile signal around here. Also, my screen is crooked when opened, not flush with the keyboard. AND, the glass seems to have a slight opening on the right side..it makes it not flush with the plastic..hard to explain if you dont know what im talking about, but it gets on my nerves.
So if anyone wants a replacement, heres what to say, and what NOT to say.
First make sure you let them know how horrible your battery life is, that you have gotten a replacement battery, and are still having the same troubles. If they ask you to open up the case and look at the little sticker under the battery cover to the right of the prongs for the battery, make sure you say WHITE...You'd better hope its white anyway, otherwise you have water damager to your phone and your warranty is VOID. That would suck!
She also told me that she actually had a friend with a g1 who took a shower and left her phone on the counter on the other side of the bathroom like 10 feet away from the shower, and the STEAM turned the sticker another color, her warranty was void, and she had to pay for her replacement. So remember, DONT TAKE YOUR PHONE WITH YOU IN THE BATHROOM FOR ANY REASON.
She started to say she was going to send me a replacement charger and i interjected and told her i have 3 different chargers all from the tmobile store (this is important) and that is not the problem. At this point, she finally gave in. I dont think tmobile is too happy about sending out expensive replacement devices, but this is my money here so i want the best of the best. Curiously enough, she also said that she will be sending a device in new or "like new" condition..Which means i could get a return from someone else. But she did add that returns just started on these phones and that 99 percent of the time your going to get a new phone at this point in time.
One disappointment, i couldn't get a white G1 replacement. Why? Because they dont send you a new back to the phone, so you obviously can't get a different color. Personally, i would of taken a white one and spray painted my battery cover...lol...but she didnt want to go for it. So for everyone out there on the fence, DO IT. The process is painless. They send you your new phone and of course let your keep your old one while the new one is on its way (a thing i truly love about tmobile, all other cell providers made me send mine in first leaving my phoneless for a week). They pay for EXPRESS shipping, that takes all of 2 days. And they pay for the shipping for you to send it back. What could be better?
So everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me so i get a new G1 with no problems. I hope everyone else has had as good service from Tmobile as i have since i became a customer a month ago.
