Proud owner of a Tmobile G2.
I have a dream! A HTC Dream a.k.a G1. Finally rooted.
What are your favorite Apps?

What do you love about the G1?

BTW, great app, all that's needed now is an AUTO backup option with user selectable time and for the g1 to auto reboot after the backup is complete. On all my previous smartphones (Palm, Windows Mobile, Symbian UIQ) I have a backup app to make a backup at 12pm then reboot the phone. Also on auto backups have ability to set how many backups we want to keep. Like I like maximum of 5 day backups, so on the 6th day, it'll make a backup and delete the oldest one, so only max of 5 backups on the card. I'll pay for this.
nxtiak, great suggestions, especially the reboot. I think the daily reboot on my WM phones kept them purring along without me feeling like I had to reboot all the time
But I would rather see more items backed up first
P.S. Agree, great app!
Definately a must have app. Nice work!
Now you can use MyBackup for archiving as well..
archive SMS , MMS, notes and other data
Speaking of Backup, can this App backup my SMSs? And if so, can it restore them too?
I used to be a WM5 user - TMobile MDA (in UK TMobile MDA Vario), and I switched to Android (TMobile G1)
There are some important messages that I want to keep (i.e. transfer from MDA to G1). But as HTC (makers of MDA)'s website says, there's no way of synching SMSs with PC...that there is no way to import/export SMSs from HTC phones.
Well, thanks to http://wince.nasenbaeren.net/smsimport I have been able to extract the SMSs from the MDA to my PC in XML format.
The syntax of the XML is:
- <SMSExport>
- <store name="SMS">
- <folder name="Deleted Items">
<message date="mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss" sender=""Name" <#############>" recipient="#############">Message body</message>
<message date="mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss" sender=""Name" <#############>" recipient="#############">Message body</message>
</folder>
</store>
</SMSExport>
Now, for the next part of the project: how do I import SMSs from this file onto my G1? Please help!
Many thanks!
you can backup/restore G1 messages through MyBackup
to import from different formats, then you need a special app to do it (I don;t know of any)
I'm getting a replacement G1 and have everything on the SD card using mybackup. I assume all I have to do is download mybackup again from the market place and then restore everything from the SD card. I will not need to install the applications again in the backup on the new phone correct?
