I gotta try that. Pulling out G1 in Apple store.![]()
Several months ago I was planning on switching from Suncom to ATT for the iPhone...next thing I knew - Suncom was bought by T-mobile and I found out about this new "Google phone" that was coming. I've had my G1 since 10-21 and overall I am very impressed.
So, yesterday I was passing our new Apple store so I thought I would stop in and play with the iPhone for a while and see what I passed on - and I know, now that I've been "drinking the G1 kool-aid" that I'm a little biased, but I think it really stacks up pretty well. The iPhone is a little thinner, but no physical keyboard. Iphone has the virtual keyboard, but we will too eventually and I found it pretty difficult to type on anyways. Iphone has the auto rotate with the accelerometer, but I found that it was a little inconsistent and would hang up if you had it tilted too flat. Multi Touch Zoom was probably the one thing that beats the G1 hands down.
I know the G1 still needs some things:
improved instant messaging, virtual keyboard, more (better) apps - but I think we will get these things - the phone keeps getting better every day - if they can add muti touch zoom to our browser I think it could be the best smart phone on the market. (by the way, I don't think that we are prevented from having multi touch because of Apple patents - I believe the new Blackberry Storm is using multi-touch - the storm will also sync to iTunes - if Blackberry can do it so can G1!!)
By the way - when I pulled out the G1 in the store - they didn't kick me out, but the clerk I was chatting with ended our conversation very quickly...

I think we might see multi touch in the future, just look at how long we have to wait(Q1 2009) until we see a on screen keyboard for the G1.

So what is the point of Apple's multitouch pattents if the Storm has multitouch?
I would like to see a Cooked ROM from XD Dev with multitouch, if it's possible
BTW, I plan on taking a trip to the Apple store this weekend to do some live comparison, especially the browser... I know I already hate the iPhone virtual keys, but I do dig all the awesomeness in the App Store, especially all the music apps and... Pandora. I would never get rid of my G1 but I wouldn't mind picking up an iPod Touch sometime in the near future, although I'm also considering a netbook with a touch screen or like the Archos 6 when it comes out instead.

You thought they were going to put you out for having a G1 ? lol. I think the Iphone is really cool as well as the G1(Due to Android). I'm going to tell you guys straight up, if the HTC dream didn't have Googles OS on it which would probably in default make it a Windows Mobile device I wouldn't buy it. Why ? Well the actually hardware on the HTC dream really isn't that impressive(cheap) and Windows Mobile is just ridiculously lame.
Me and Android are officially connected.
yeah, Android is definitely what puts this phone over the top. im pretty familiar with the iPhone and i can say pretty confidently that this will easily compare to it.. to each their own but the multitasking on the G1 alone is a killer app...
I hated writing emails/text on my iPhone, maybe because i`m too old for it. I honestly love the G1`s keyboard, actual phone I can compare it to was the X1 - If ever it does come out lol! And Android? Well now![]()
The Iphone is a good phone G1 is a good phone i don't know why anyone would bash either one.
The iPhones OS isn't bad, I just couldn't live without a full keyboard and the fact that Apple decides what you can put on it(without jailbreaking) really turned me away from it. That's when I decided it was either Touch Pro or G1, well I got to play with the Touch Pro and lets just say I'm glad I went with the G1.
