Who knows why. We have to remember that our phones are like tiny computers. There is always a one in 1000 chance of your little computer crashing unexpectedly for no reason. It happens. I'm assuming you requested a warranty replacement....
Hello there!
My G1 phone got crashed yesterday immediately without an apparent reason. It was working fine till yesterday noon and it seemed to boot up on its own couple of times. Finally my phone was dead by the afternoon completely and I couldn't either switch on the phone or make calls. I took it to a T-mobile store where it was declared crashed.
What might be a cause for this crash? I never dropped my phone or handled improperly. Could the recent update over the week end pushed to our phones be a reason for the crash? But it was working well though till yesterday( 2 days with the updates pushed to my phone) before it got self booted for a while and become dead.
Was there any update pushed to G1 phones by yesterday afternoon? What do you think might be a reason for the crash? What's the guarantee that my next G1 phone which I will be getting from T-mobile for exchange(luckily this time I have the warranty for the exchange) won't crash after G1 folks push updates to the phones next time? Any response on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Venki

Yes. that's correct.
Sounds like a hardware problem. Doubt it had anything to do with the update, it just being after the update was a coincidence. That's my 2 cents.
btw: If it was a software problem caused by the update. You'd see about 129102919201 more threads here about it.

May be you are correct. I am sending my old phone back to T-mobile. Any way my new G1 phone is on it's way!
