Default MP3 as Alarm? Is this possible?

I know how to make a ringtone for a contact a mp3, but i wanted to use the G1 as an alarm, but I can't seem to figure out how to use an mp3 as the alarm sound. Does anyone know if this is possible or am I gonna have to wait for a 3rd party app?

I believe its possible you have to put the mp3 you want in a folder called alarm on your card at least I think some one posted that earlier same thing for sms alerts check the manual i know its in there.

Yep, make a folder on your SD card called 'alarms' and ut the mp3 you want to use in there. It will then show up under the alarm sounds list.

One time I did have to reboot my phone to make them appear...

rawskilz, I first created a folder called Alarms and it didnt work. I then made a folder called alarms (all lowercase) and it works. Also, the ACDC song i had was really long, i renamed it to just acdc.mp3 and when im selecting from the alarms, it had the actual title of the mp3 displayed in the list. give it a try...

This worked for me. I put several MP3s in the "alarms" folder and I can choose any one of them for my alarm. Didn't need to reset either.

its the same way if you were to do it for ringtones. You have to first enable the song when playing it, click menu then choose set as ringtone. this enables the song to be chosen for an individual contact ringtone and to use for other instances such as alarm.
