I think you can only do both at the same time if you are on 3g, the 3g carries the data and the 2g carries the voice. If you are using edge(2g) for data then there is no signal for voice to come in on. At least that was how it was explained to me.
Just a heads up that some of you (sorry, us) watching youtube, using imeem, browsing the web and running other data applications will be missing some calls because as of now, the data and voice networks do not work simultaneously.
While you are on a call, you cannot browse the web or use the data service (I encourage you to try), likewise, while watching youtube, listening to music on imeem (It is okay to use tuneswiki and music, since they access the SD Card instead) all your incoming calls will go straight to voice message.
I inquired with CS earlier, but only answer I got was that both voice and data dont work simultaneously. I am still in a 2G area, can anyone verify around the 3G network if it is the same?
I dont think this is something that can be addressed in an update? The more I think of it, it sounds more like a network issue (of course it should be), so T-mobile, what says thou?
Oh! I am a smartphone newbie,so please enlighten me, is this the case with blackberries, iPhones and other PDAs?

I guess that means if Wi-Fi is turned on, it should be fine then to use 2G and Wi-fi to handle both.
Yes, on any Edge (2G) network, you can not have data and voice going at the same time. Usually voice takes precidence, but I guess sometimes you'll clog up the line and the voice call will just go straight to v-mail.
I'm always on 3G, and I can only do one, or the other. About missing calls due to being online, that has never happend to me. If I'm on the web, and a call comes in, screen fades to black for a sec, then the screen shows me who's calling, and ring.
Dont know about that one buddy. I dont have 3g in my area so when i browse its always a 2g connection. When i recieve a call while i am browsing the call always interrupts the browsing session and i have a choice of whether i want to ignore the call or take it. I understand on EGDE you cant talk and surf at the same time but my calls always come through when im browsing the web, they dont go to voicemail
You could be on a webpage (physically), but not using data at that point in time, because you already have the page contents cached... Istead try testing it on say youtube.
You use the data network while browsing only when the busy signal is on(yellow radar is rolling in circles), otherwise everyone recieves their calls while viewing (cached) websites.
i live in a 2g area and have had web pages that were loading interrupted by sms and voice calls.
Ok i see where your going with that. Yea I've never been viewing a Youtube video and recieved a call but that doesnt really effect me that much since I dont use the youtube feat too often. I hadnt really noticed this since i guess all my calls come in once im actually browsing the page not trying to get to it.
