Message alert tones

Is there a way to make my email and text message alert tones different?

I'm not sure if you mean this...... Open Text Messages> Under settings> notifications

I dont think that's what he meant. I think he wants a different tone for email and a different tone for sms. I don't think it's possible, I sure hope they implement it someday. Would be nice to know if you got an email or a text. Good thing I still have my Nokia LOL

It is possible, I have 2 different ones.

Open gmail, go to the settings and pick your tone there.
Go to messaging, go to settings, pick your tone there.
DONE.

Yeah, I have 2 different tones too... I just can't figure out how to make different tones for different people.... ones that you jump for, and ones that you roll your eyes for.

Do you know how to get a custom mp3 to be an SMS alert? I downloaded a couple and they do appear in my ringtones listing but when I go to change the SMS notification they are not listed.
