which one did you flash , first of all ?
yes , you need to flash it . 1.5 is the latest firmware . every rom out there is 1.5 or lower . update.zip , etc ..... but you are alright renaming it update if you are using windows . for some reason a lot of people end up writing update.zip.zip .

I didn't flash anything yet..It's still not working..I'm trying...do you think flashing that will work? =[

where are you at ? i mean what have you done already ? i dont know what part you are on so i cant tell you what to do....

I am still just signing in..I didn't flash anything the last thing I did was

• Power off your phone.
• Holding down the camera button, power the phone back on.
• Wait for the bootloader to come up all the way, and press the Power button to begin the update.
• When the first part completes it will prompt you to hit the action key to continue. The trackball is the action key.
• Once the update is finished, you can reboot your phone by pressing TALK+MENU+POWER.

Stop and Verify: When the phone reboots, you should be greeted by a fresh install of Android. Go through the setup process again for signing into your Google account. You can double check that the downgrade was successful by checking your build number as explained earlier. Press “Menu”, then “Settings”, and click “About Phone”. Your version after the downgrade will read RC29.








Now I am up to the registering part =\ I don't want to flash that unless I really need to because if I flash that I loose root, correct? and do you think flashing that will solve my problem?

no , that wont solve your problem . is it possible that tmobile could be having an issue with data transmission in your area ? have you had problems in the area with data ?

Not sure..I'm at home where I just connect to WI-FI..I just got my G1 yesterday, well technically 2 days ago lol...but when I was walking home from work today which is very near my house I had 3G on and as I was trying to listen to music on imeem mobile it wasn't really loading...so I'm not sur emaybe the 3G connection is bad..but you would think in long island/ around where I live it would be strong considering a bunch of rich people live nearby and all the kids have like internet on their phone..sadly I'm not even keeping 3G..

keep trying to connect . it might be your area . you did everything right . try taking the battery out for 3 minutes . that will reset your signal and the phone will resign-in

I've been trying it ever since I posted about it...=[ What's weird is I have the 3G logo on top...I am going to try taking out the battery for 3 mins I did that be4 and took out the SIM as well but I don't know if it was 3 mins..I'll try again...*sigh

im bewildered also ....
where did you download the rc29 img file from ? if you have a card reader , download the file again (or from another link) , rename it update again , stick your card back in your phone and re-update .
