International characters - how?

How do I get international characters when I write emails, sms, add contacts, etc?

Press and hold the letter your "international" character uses. You will get a menu with accented symbols, etc.

hmm.
It kind of works, but when I tried it in this reply, the int'l letter was immediately converted back to the original letter when I continue typing.
Could you try as well to write a reply with additional characters?
Maybe it works better in emails and sms.

I've been using the Translit app to write using Cyrillic.

Shame it shows up as question marks on the receiver's end.
