    Default Insurance: Yes or No?

Probably a stupid question, but I've had my G1 for almost 2 weeks, and it's coming down to decision time for the insurance. $6 per month, with a $140 deductible (as you all probably know).

I was just wondering, how many of you have insurance on your phones, and how many times (if any at all) you've had to replace it?

And is it me, or is the $140 deductible quite steep? I used to have insurance on my BlackBerry Pearl 8130 with Sprint and my deductible was $50. Could the deductible drop at some point, when newer revisions of the phone are released, thus dropping the price of my black G1?

140 dollar deductible? Wow. The saleslady never mentioned THAT to me. I feel a GRRR comin' on. I think I'll keep the insurance, though. My my $350 dollar ipod is now stuck permanently in fast forward mode. Didn't have insurance on it, and I'd hate for something similar to happen to the G1.

do the math... months you'll pay plus deductible is that < price of new phone if you need to replace it?

is there anyway of getting it after the 2 weeks??
I got it as a present, and my dad bought it just over 2 weeks ago. I tried calling and asking but they told me there was no way.

Do not forget that you are paying $6 as you said per month - if the replacement is needed there is $140 deductible (or is it $130?) and on the top of everything you are NOT GUARANTEED you will get brand new device - in the common translation - you are paying REFURBISHED phone $140 plus insurance money you already paid.

Exactly why I won't get it.... insurance replaces your phone with a refurb. By the time something happens to mine, I can get a refurbished phone from a number of sources for less than $140 plus however many months I paid the monthly premium...

GET INSURANCE. I have it , Cause I know I'd rather pay 140 than however much more I'd have to pay WITHOUT it.
