    Default Insurance on the G1?

Well normally I use unlocked phones on T-mobile, so I am not able to get them insured. My question is will we be able to insure this phone and about how much a month/deposit. No I am not planning on running my phone over or anything lol. I just have heard from numerous people that ATT won't insure the iphone b/c of its cost.
    Any comments?

Currently I do not think Tmobile has any pricing for the insurance. What I was thinking about is insuring my G-Phone with SquareTrade warranty. Once I get that - I am covered

I think T-Mobile insurance for any handset is $5-6. The deductible is what seems to be different depending on the phone. The usual deductible is about $50, while the one for my Wing was $110-120. I got 4 brand new T-Mobile Wings for $500 and sold the other 3 on ebay for $350+ each, so wouldn't "lose" money if it broke, but T-Mobile was kind enough to insure it even though I didn't buy it from them.

I've never lost, broke, damaged, or had phone stolen.

I don't ever let any of my phones out of my sight, but I think with the sliding action of the phone and the size I'm going to get it just to be safe.

To clear one thing up, it isn't T-Mobile who insures. It's the Asurion company. They insure for virtually all wireless providers:

To begin, please select your wireless carrier:
    Verizon
    Wireless

With the Wing retailing at a higher price and being insurable by Asurion it's apparent the G1 will be as well. The higher bracket of cost is $5.99 per month. Equipment protection just took an awesome turn for the consumer on the 15th as you may now extend the manufacturer's warranty for less than two dollars per month (no deductible, Yay!), straight insurance went down and most premiums were reduced. More than likely you'll see this break down for costs on the G1:

The deductible for this phone model is: $130
    Insurance Only: $4.79
    Enhanced Warranty Only: $1.99
    Insurance + Enhanced Warranty: $5.99

    Thanks for the great info!

Now do you have to buy the "Enhanced Warranty" up front or can you add it towards the end of the manufacturer's warranty?

If you search the terms and conditions eventually you'll find Asurion Equipment Protection must be added within the first 14 days of a product being ordered. I recommend all customers to use the insurance in the first three months of buying a new, expensive device and to almost never let go of an extended manufacturer's warranty. I don't know off the top of my head if you can move from the bundle to only the extended manufacturer's warranty though. I'll have to check it out.
