Incoming calls are always answered with speaker phone.

It started about a week ago. Whenever I answer the phone it is in speaker phone mode. I have to go into the menu to turn it off before talking unless I want everybody around me to hear.Outgoing calls are just fine.

The apps I install are all from the Android store, nothing fancy.

Has anybody else had this issue? I don't want to reset it to factory settings unless I have too.

What was the last app you installed before this started happening?

Downloaded any apps that alter the call or phones settings?

I cannot recall exactly as I install and uninstall apps regularly.

I did uninstalled a program that tried to determine the location of the caller, based on area code, around that time. I do not remember the name of the program however.

Sorry for you troubles, but I wish this was a feature! Ideally, when there is an incoming call, there should be on-screen buttons to answer the call or to answer with the speakerphone. They can make the buttons sliders instead to prevent your butt from answering the call. As for using the green call button, make it short press to answer normally and long press to answer with the speakerphone.

I noticed this problem as well. Last time i was using the phone I did happen to switch it from speaker to bluetooth. The bluetooth was off and so i guess it defaults back to whatever it was on before, which was speaker. And I can't turn the speaker off without being on a call, which is very frustrating, so I have to answer calls in speaker mode, I think.

I have also had another problem which may or may not be related. Sometimes when I answer, the person calling cannot hear me respond and I have to call them back. It's great how HTC and Google thought of everything conceivable bell and whistle for this phone, but didn't manage to nail down the actual answering calls part.

I solved the issue some time ago. There is a configuration option in, Phone Recorder, a program that I downloaded from the Market.

It has a configuration option to always answer using the speaker. I must have enabled it although I do not remember doing so. I disabled the option and it resolved my problem.

I have a similar problem my phone worked fine for a week then when ever I make an outgoing call the speaker phone is activated and I have to turn it off! Very annoying, I tried a factory re set but keeping my stored data and the problem was gone for about 3 calls after re configuring everything then it came back!!!
Another problem that appeared at the same time was when you pressed the "home" button it no longer took you home but too the clock!!!!! Think I am going to sell if I cannot fix soon, I have just tried a full reset deleting all my data I will let you know if it fixes the problem.

problem solved(so far) I let the battery run dead and upon recharge and reboot everything is back to norm.
fyi I'm on a galaxy s2 with latest (2.3.3) official updates no mods or rooted.

I have the same issue with my xperia play running 2.3.3. Tried letting the battery run dead to no avail. Any help would be great. Thanks
