    I check the
Market probably 15-20 times a day or more and my Market app only takes up 90KB.

I was down to 9mb on my phone. Went into the browser settings cleared all the caches and now I am up to 20mb. Didn't really want to start from scratch with all my applications etc.

I have 38 applications loaded. I imagine a little clean up would free up some space...

Now, please help my ignorance on this matter. Are you doing the factory reset option on the phone? I thought that there's both the one in the phone and one that a T-mo rep can do...a more invasive reset that they can do. Did I hear wrong? Which are you doing?

And irregardless, thanks for the thread, Shaky

It's a real factory reset. Realize that unlike most other phones, your calendar entries and contacts are all stored on the internet and just sync'd to the phone, so a factory reset destroys less of your personal environment. You lose apps (which you can reinstall), and various settings.

Storing data on the SD card presents a security issue. While your phone can be locked from access by other people there is nothing to stop a person from physically removing the SD card. This is likely why contacts and calendar entries are not stored there. I wish they had just encrypted them and stored them and all messages there. Think how worry free a reset would be.

thanks for the rapid answer, yep is that easy, it won't take more than 15 minutes in the worst case to get everything back plus all the extra memory space

    Shaky/Keith, thanks for the answers.

Now that my brain can wrap around that morsel, I'm not seeing the how. Where are the instructions for doing this?

I'm not sure if someone touched on this but could the memory problem be related to the no icons and frozen app shade and desktop issue that some people are having. I know when i first got my phone i was on the app store 15 times a day and browsing hours on end heavy loading sites and my g1 started crashing more often even when i was clearing cache. I notice my memory usage wasnt going down and eventually had to reset. I eventually installed less apps and made less visits and dont browse as much. Any feed back if this might have any correlation to this issue?
