I feel like I'm going to break the BACK COVER

i felt like i was going to break it thats 1 good thing about the sidekick all you had to do was push the back cover up and it came off

I went to the store to get my replacement battery, and the salesperson also had a G1 himself. I told him that I keep thinking I am going to break the back off. My "technique" was always to slide open display to reveal the keyboard, dig my fingernails into the wedge where the back cover meets the keyboard, keeping my fingernails in, re-slide the display back over the keyboard so I can get more leverage, and slowly creak one side open.

The sales person showed me a faster technique and he literally gets the cover off in 1 second. Puts his fingernails in the wedge and just yanks it off real quick and it comes off with a pop.

Come to think of it, it's probably a better technique to do it fast than trying to "bend" the cover off slowly, hence, stressing the tiny fastening tabs.

I will keep in mind about the camera mirror and now watch where my hands go when attempting to remove the cover.

but i found a replacement oem back with an oem battery included for 19.95 with free shipping...

actually, the technique really does work...

just open the backcover by pulling the TAB

don't peel it off....

instead, put ur fingernails between where the cover meet the phone and "wedge" it out...it works like a charm...
