Several applications have difficulties running on W7 64bit from the "Programs" file directory and a quick work-around to the problem was to install the application directly under the drive.

As an alternative and/or quick and easy solution...

    You can do this:
    C:\HTC\HTC Sync

    ...should get the job done.

You also have to pay attention to WMI and UAC in Windows as it now gets pretty cranky if it smells anything that could be perceived as threatening and with W7 their aren't as many prompts as was the case with Vista.

Set the sync.exe permission level to administrator if you trust your environment.

I followed all of the above recommendations, but sync still didn't recognize my phone. So, I went into the Android Phone Properties > Hardware tab. There, I noticed that I had two entries for "HTC Android Phone USB Device" with a question mark over the icon. I uninstalled both devices. Then, I disconnected my phone from the USB cable and reconnected it. Bam! Everything worked.

Been having problems with this myself, just a thought, would it not be simpler just to buy a cheap multicard reader and transfer files o/s the phone, then re-insert the Microcard??.

Windows 7 is out already for some time, but Im the same problem with my 64-bit version, it always seems to find some file VISTA. I guess programmers HTC has made no improvement for Windows 7.

I'd recommend giving up with HTC Sync. Even though I got it running it was just too unreliable. MyPhoneExplorer works for me.
