I like the HTC Hero as much as the next bloke, but why not wait until the HTC Touch Pro 2 comes out and then try to port a HERO rom to it?

I'm sure the good folks over at xda will come up with something plus you'll have 3G support for Tmobile and a cheaper phone. The dash is selling for $349 so we might get the Wing II for a crazy low price of $399 or $249 with contract...that is unless you know where to find it cheaper (fatwallet.com.)

do you really think the touch pro 2 could get android on it? that would be my favorite phone if it had android... but sadly it has winmo...

Why not? I've even seen Android ported to a Tmobile Dash. Unforunately they couldn't get it to work correctly because it wasn't a touchscreen.

It works on the Omnia and several other touchscreens albeit with a few problems like our current HERO roms on the G1. I was very ticked when I heard about the HTC Hero not coming to Tmobile but maybe there is a way to actually dual boot a phone. I'm quite sure there will be people that find a way to install Android on the TP2 though.

We should find out real soon once some of these coders get the phone in their hands.

isnt the touch pro 2 out already?(not on tmo but overseas.) what accomplishments have they made so far?

I remember reading somewhere that it was difficult to port Android into Winmo devices, (if it was easy youd see a lot of winmo users with android), but it could have changed. Its just that there are a lot of missing functions when ported.

i dont know much about the touch pro 2 but does it have accelerometer, compass, gps, and wifi?
