How To Get A White G1 With Pre-Order / T-Mobile g1 in white being held back? [MERGED]

So I (like many of you) pre-ordered the G1 today, in black. But I really wanted the white one, so I called TMO Customer Care and spoke with Roberta who told me to do this:

"When the package comes you can refuse delivery, so UPS will take it back. Once you have refused delivery, take the tracking number to the store and give that to them and they should give you the white one."

She also put this in my account notes and told me if they "say they cannot do that, tell them customer care said they could and have them call us."

It might be in your best interest to call 611 and get them to put those notes in your account too, just so you have it, but that's what Roberta told me.

So 10/22, I'm going to get my white G1!

you cant get it on pre order only the black and brown 1, if you want white you gotta wait until oct 22 to buy it

Yeah I know THAT, but this is how you can get the White one, even if you've pre-ordered it.

Dude! Please don't listen to Roberta! She obviously has no sense and you may end up going through more trouble than u anticipate...then not to mention on top of that you're still going to haft to wait in LINE to get the phone from the t mobile store, so if you want white that bad, just buy it on Oct 22 and save the headache. I wanted white too but I'd rather have brown and sit in the comfort of my home and not in a line.

I don't anticipate there being a line, certainly nothing like the iPhone. HTC has been putting out nice phones for a while, granted this is the first android device, but again I don't anticipate there being anything like what AT&T saw for the iPhone launch.

I'll just take my tracking number into a TMO store and pick it up, I'm fairly certain it will be super easy, but we shall see.

Another important question, are you in a 3g area? If not, if you go to the store you'll have to wait for it to be shipped.

That's when they come out, that's when they're supposed to arrive at the homes of those who pre-ordered them. That's usually how TMO does stuff, it's available in stores the same day it goes out.

I am in a 3G area. Will they even be selling them in a 3G area? Seems kind of pointless IMO.
