How to delete multiple contacts?

I added contacts through gmail import and deleted them on gmail.com. So, I have about 160 contacts in G1, although only 1 in gmail.com and after 1 hours it hasn't synced so far. I am set to sync everything. I wanted to delete these and start afresh. How do I delete multiple contacts from the phone? There doesn't seem to be a way to select all contacts.

I will appreciate any help.

I found this out the hard way. If you go into the general settings>application>manage applications> scroll down to and select "myFaves"> then select on "clear data." That should clear out all of your contacts and call logs from your phone.

I did that by accident because I was trying to clean up my phone memory and I didnt think I needed "myfaves" since I dont have a faves plan. All of a sudden my contact list was gone, but all I needed to do was sync my phone and it gave me back all of my contacts. I dont know if clearing the data under "contacts" would do the same but clearing "myfaves" worked.

What a life saver.

I had triples of all my contact because I did a lot of contact importing and exporting today trying to sync between outlook, gmail, and thunderbird.

I thought I was going to have to manually deleted 1000+ contacts.

But, hold on!!!
What if I don't have MyFaves?
My acct doesn't include MyFaves, and the App, is not on the G1...I mean, it's there, but I don't have any MyFaves contacts...so...How can I clear all of them????
I also have multiple repeat contacts, because of the sync between Gmail, and My.t-mobile.com accts.
Am I stuck with a manual delete?

OK. MyFaves wasn't showing up in the manage applications>, called T-Mobile, and they told me to clear the contacts data, which was only 2kb, so I'm thinking this wasn't gonna work, because it wasn't enough amount of kb for the contacts that I had.
Still went ahead and cleared that, and the MyFaves icon inside the manage applications> showed up, and cleared that data, and voilà!!!
No more contacts!!
I am currently performing another sync, with My.t-mobile.com, editing those contacts first, to ensure that when I do a sync, they don't get triplicated. Thank you all for your help!!
