Default How much traffic for activation?

    Hi Androids,

since I will get my G1 aprox 2 weeks before the dataplan is active I would like to know how much traffiic (thus money) it will cost me to activate, set it up and synch it for the first time.

I dont want to just look at it for 2 weeks...(this would be madness, not sparta) neither i want to end up in 20€ data fees just for activating it....

    thx in advance

if you use a wifi connection then i don't see what would cost you anything, but i would call CS and see what they tell you.

I know in the US that if you don't have a data plan then the phone cant even use data at all, you have to have the plan just access it.

    Hi,

in GER we dont have this limitation but 1mb costs 40 €-Cent. The only matter for me is the amount of traffic for activation. After activation I can use WiFi only for the 2 weeks, I know that much...

The data plan costs some 85 US cents a day, and you only need a day to activate your phone.

Yes, but the phone constantly uses data for multiple services, you will still get data charges even after just activating it.

Maybe my english is not good enough... I am not asking for a data plan or anything else related to billing / payment... I am just interested in the MEGABYTEs of traffic required for activation...

it should only be a few kb (plus the transfer of your gmail contacts/calendar/etc)

Only if you have the data plan and have the proper APN's.
