When switching between programs. For example
Your in the browser, you have 2-3 windows open. You close 1 and then have 2 open and decide to click HOME to go into your messages. Does your phone ever pause and give you a blank home screen for like 5 seconds before loading your icons?
Mine does this a LOT. I have 18mb free on my phone.
I have only noticed this coming from the browser, not from any other programs. Its probably because the browser takes up alot of memory.
some programs lag pretty bad for me. it's taken 5-10 seconds for the icons to show up on my home screen from a few apps actually. usually happens with games or apps that stream music and video like imeem and youtube.

This happens for me when using the browser just about every time depending on how long I was on the browser. Once I back out of the program I get a black screen for a few seconds, and then I get my blank background screen (my desktop background with no application shortcuts), I give it about 5-10 seconds and the application shortcuts load and then its back to normal. But yeah, the only time it happens is when using the browser, but it happens every time I use it.

Yeah, and when you pull the app menu thing, theres nothing in it, but then it loads up.... real slow! i bet you the iphone doesn't have this problem
Yeah, because on the iPhone you couldn't "pull the app menu thing."

plus there isnt really any possibility for that to happen since the iphone can run apps in the background, so the memory won't get low.
yes and this appears to be "common." i don't expect this to remain this way though. for anyone who has used any flavor of Linux, you know that it is BRILLIANT when it comes to managing resources.
the lag is not from only when closing out of the browser. i have noticed it on the following:
- closing out of the browser...but only when i've been browsing for a while, through multiple sites/pages. does NOT happen from just opening the browser and closing it. there is casual "debugging" step #1.
- closing out of the image viewer...but only when i've been viewing images, going in and out of folders, using the slide show, et al. it does not happen when just launching "Images" and then closing it. more casual debugging for ya.
- after playing "Bonsai Blast"...but only when i've been playing it for a while. if i just launch the game, play a few seconds and then close it, i do not get the homescreen "stare of death." noticing a trend here?
i wouldn't dare speculate as to what the issue is because unless you can actually write programs - i'm talking DEVELOP, not just bang out code you were told to write - then we can't be armchair programmers. we can be users though and we can report valid, user experiences.
i'd much rather be on this side of the bleeding edge, then on the apple side. apple tells ya what to do too much. i like android 'cause it fits my personality...until google becomes the giant black glove smothering the earth.
::edit:: - XDViPeR, you may wanna go get an iPhone.

Yeah, Shlongwoodian, I've noticed this as well, the more you use the program, the more resoruces it takes up, hence the desktop taking a while to come back....
and nahh, I think I'll stick with the G1 for 21 more months.... that is unless someone wants to trade their mint cond 3g iphone with my G1![]()
