How long to activate 3G

My SIM was 7 years old from the Voicestream days. I called CC last night and she said some SIM cards over two years old cannot pick up the 3G signal. I had a new SIM laying around and she transferred my account to the new one. 3G works fine now. You may want to give them a call and see if they can help.
