help concerning my htc magic

I recently bought an HTC Magic (TIM). It is unlocked.

I have a few questions.

Is it possible to switch from this UK version cupcake to the US version cupcake? I want to do this because the default keyboard from my phone is not that great. Please let me know how to do this.

Second. Since the band frequency for this phone is 2100/900, will it ever see 3G from T mobile which has a 1700/2100 frequency?

i also have a question! how do i know if i buy the htc magic in the US, if it will work in AUSTRIA? on ebay it says its unlocked, open for all gsm carriers!
