Gmail inbox question

when i first set up gmail on my phone it downloaded over 4000 emails! is there a way to delete more than one at a time? i have tried to highlight a bunch of them but that didnt work. i have tried to press the delete key while the message was highlighted. nothing.

also can i highlight a part of text within an email? for example i got an email with a ups tracking number and i wanted to copy the number and paste it into a text message but i couldnt. the only things i can highlight in my emails or browser are links. i can highlight text in the text messages i write but thats about it.

What does your inbox look like when you log on to GMAIL on you computer? It should look the same. Well at least mine does and I keep them in sync. So if I delete or move a message on the Computer than it will update on the phone and vice versa.

So if you place your messages where you want to on the computer..then your phone will reflect that..

I don't ever log into gmail on my computer like that because I use outlook. All the email I have deleted on outlook is on my phone though.

Easiest way is to do it is at Gmail on you computer, delete them there. I can't imagine deleting so many emails on the G1.
