Did you try splashing water on it to wake your G1 up?
I posted this over on the Tmo forums as well, but no one there seemed to have any ideas, so I'm reposting here in the hope that someone else has seen this and/or has suggestions for me. :-)
Okay, I had my phone on last night, and not on the charger, and when I got up this morning, I had to pull out the battery to get it on again. Pressing Menu, pressing the On/Off Button, Pressing the green Call button... nothing worked. Does RC29 fix this? I'm still on 19. Is this a bug that will get fixed? Keeping it on the charger overnight seems to prevent the sleep mode, so I can always do that until a patch comes out if I need to. This is actually the second time it did it -- I thought maybe it was just a one-time thing the first time, but now it's happened twice. And it was under the same circumstances, where it was left overnight, not plugged in (I keep it plugged in during the day at work, so I generally don't at night) and the next morning I had to pull the battery out to get it on again. When I put the battery back in, it's showing that I still have quite a bit of battery left, so it's not that it's gone dead. Is there a way to turn off sleep mode at all? Maybe if I just do that, so the phone doesn't go into that mode, I won't have problems anymore. I might end up giving up a bit of overall battery life for it, but that's better than having to reboot my phone by pulling the battery every morning.

This has happened to me a couplle of times but I was able to get the phone up without having to remove the battery.
I don't know if it made a difference or not but I pushed the menu button a little harder and it came to life. Maybe a little patience was in order. Perhaps the Android system applies fuzzy logic to memic the habits of the user. I'm hard to wake up too.
LOL, I'll give that a try. I pushed Menu, but I don't think I pressed it any harder than usual. I'll leave it tonight and if it does it again, give that a shot. I'll let you know if it works or not!
yea that happen a couple times to me but u just gotta keep trying and will awake up. I thought it was just a problem with my g1 but if there's other then it must be everyone .
Sorry for bringing this topic back from the dead (“CPUs… must… frag… CPUs”)
I seem to have this ‘Stuck in sleep mode’ issue more than the lag exiting a heavy app or any other issue with the G1.
I didn’t notice it at all prior to installing RC33, but now it happens at least every other day. After a few seconds of Menu-button-CPR it eventually comes back to the light.
Another thread mentioned a battery/charging issue that could be related, but that doesn’t seem to be it. I’ve seen it play dead if it’s charging and when it’s not, it doesn’t seem to matter.
A possibility could be the device is chewing on a process or something and is at a point where it can’t be interrupted, but I don’t have anything major running, unless it’s syncing with Gmail or the POP3 account.
I have Power Manager running but don’t recall this being an issue until after I installed RC33.
Anyone else noticed this recently or have any ideas?
