Hey,
My G1 is being RMA'd so I am getting a new one. Since I have a clean slate to start with, I want to set it up right. I want to buy an 8 or 16 SD card and I am wondering how to set it up before I install market apps, etc...
1. There is a market app. to put the swap file on the SD card. Is there an advantage to this ?
2. What advantages are there to moving cache, running applications from the SD card ?
3. Do you have to root for all of the above ?
4. Bottom line, what is/are the most bang-for-the buck tweaks that are least likely to brick a phone, but make it run a little faster with lots of apps installed? I feel like my phone runs a little slow as it is. I want the rebuild to be a little quicker.

I turn off my phone nightly and depending on what apps you install will determine what is set to run on turn on. Keep them minimal and your phone should be pretty fast.
Not sure what apps could be slowing down your phone. Use my backup and backup all your apps. Remove some suspected apps and reinstall and see if there is a difference.

I highly stress that, get a case...protect the back cover, it is truly irreplaceable & the camera glass =)
