Thread: G1 text notifications...

    Default G1 text notifications...


    Does anyone know if it's possible to use mp3's as text notifications? I've got a 2 second long sound effect I moved onto my phone to use for texts, but I don't know if I can use it for notifications.

    plz halp!!!

    yea go to the market and download ringdroid ... it will let u edit mp3 and set as ringtone, text tone...etc.

    PHONE: blk MT3G 1.2<==ROOTED
    RECOVERY: RA-magic latest

    OP, you dont need to download ringdoid to use you current mp3. Create a folder on you sd card called "notifications", place the file in there and see if the G1 recognizes it as a notification sound. Otherwise, download an app in the market called "Rings Extended." It lets you use any mp3 file for any notification type.

    Hi Ren857,

    I'm using Ringdroid to set a customer notification sound. It works well but the sound you select for notifications covers the whole family - text, new email, reminders. Does Rings Extended let you assign specific sounds to the different alert types? I don't want to download it and try for myself in case it clashes with Ringdroid so any info appreciated.

    I know that can happen but you just need to go into the settings for your email tones or reminder tones and re-set them back to the tones you want. You don't need another app to do this.

    You have to change the sound in the settings of each of those individual applications.
