Go and get your replacement bro.
Well, my touch screen stopped working first. I could still do everything with the trackball. I decided to do a battery pull to see if that would fix the problem. After restarting, it hung on the T-Mobile G1 splash screen.....and hasn't done anything else in the last hour.
I called up Tmo, and told them to switch my BlackBerry service back onto my line. This is my work line and I need a reliable phone. It's too bad, because I really really really liked this phone. Now I gotta use up my lunch hour at work tomorrow to take this thing back to the store.
Go and get your replacement bro.
Me and Android are officially connected.
So you screen stopped working so now you think all G1's are unreliable? No matter what phone you get your going to have some bad ones in the bunch. Just get your phone replaced.
cant put this damn phone down...
bummer, i would get a replacement most people have not had reliability issues with the phone, it just appears its a widespread problem because when things go south people tend to jump on forums to complain/try to find a fix
I personally got my G1 on 10/24 and have yet to have any problems with my phone, less the common black G1 creak that was easily fixed
get a replacement.
the touchscreen wasn't working for me and i got a replacement screen within the next morning![]()

Also, I'm selling myTouch 3G accessories on Soompi!
I can't even make a phone call with this thing, let alone the fact that it won't even start up.
If I have had the phone for say a year or so, I would have chalked up my losses. But for a phone to work less than 10 days? That seems pretty unreliable to me.
Trust me, I love this phone, but my job includes running two large stores. I need a phone that works, period. I hate the fact that I am without a G1 right now, but I also don't want to get screwed in a few days after the 14 day period is up. What happens when it stops working next time....I'm stuck with a non-functioning phone.
Again, you're not reading what anyone is saying.
We're not saying yes, it's an unreliable phone, get another one! We're saying that there's going to be a few bad phones in the bunch. Once (if) you get a replacement instead of an exchange, you're going to have a sturdy, fun, and reliable phone. I NEED A RELIABLE PHONE isn't a valid argument when you received a defective product and nothing more. One bad phone is not a testament to the series as a whole.
P.S.: I'm going to fold in half with laughter when you receive a defective Blackberry and you're at a loss for what to do then.
Proud owner of a Tmobile G2.
I have a dream! A HTC Dream a.k.a G1. Finally rooted.
