G1 Battery

Do we know the model number of the G1's battery and if it is currently used in any other phone?

Why, I hear you ask.

Well its like this. Once you receive your phone on lauch day there will be a 3 hour wait while you wait for it to charge before you can use it. If the battery is available on other phones you could find a friend or work college with that phone, buy a new battery and get them to charge it up the day before.

That way you get the bragging rights for first post on this forum from a G1.

Not that anyone here would be obsessive enough to do this

just FYI try using the search feature we have in our forums

(i wish we knew the model and make of the battery cause i would be one of thoes people to run around asking my friends or people if i can barrow there battery haHAHa im such a loser!)

yes you can but it will effect the future of your battery. keep that in mind. thats why you wanna let it fully charge when you get it for about 2-4 hours before use

I was aware of this thread, but wasn't asking about battery life which is what it covers.

Looks like the same as the battery for the HTC Touch Diamond.

The battery in the link is "Capacity: 900mAh" less than the standard one, I'd like the same or better rating, not less. And 39.95? yikes!

Hey guys,

Just thought i'd point out something i bought today. I always thought the "Itip" stuff was cheesy, but i went to radio shack today, and they sell an "itip" power supply for the g1 that takes double a batteries, and the actual connector that turns it in to ExtUsb was free w/the purchase of the power supplier. So basically this thing takes 2 AA batteries and will fully recharge your G1 in a pinch. For 20 bucks, i'd say you cant beat that. Better then shellin out 50+ for another battery, imho.

But the battery in the picture is not the same one in the phone and it says ETA for it is 11/11 I'm assuming of 2008, so they may just not have one to have photographed but it would be nice just to have the capacity bumped up from 1150Mah to 1600Mah. It looks like it's supposed to work with the same back cover too which is definitely a plus.
