G1 and iPhone Comparisons

I am new here and somewhat bothered by what I am seeing here.

Many comments end with "the iPhone is better" or "not as good as the iphone"

Why are we doing this?

Yes, the iPhone set a benchmark for "smart" phones but we have to remember that the G1 will never be like the iPhone because it is NOT AN iPHONE!

Lets just appreciate it for what it is. iPhone does some things a certain way, G1 does them a different way, lets not moan and groan that one is better, let's just get used to the little guy (G1). Give him a break, he'll grow on ya

the iphone has things I wish my new g1 did have, and vice versa.
they both seem to be very good phones.
I just see the android improving more than the iphone will.

I weighed a lot of options and the g1 is for me! Hence better to me!

I agree, the open-source nature of Android leaves for (almost) limitless options.

I haven't really seen any iPhanboys on AC. They don't hate on it, that's for sure, but they don't love it to bits either.

i don't hate on android, i see its potential. i hope it does well. the better it does the more apple has to step up its game. that just means better phones, apps, OS for us end users.

But, I don't think it's wise to be a 'fanyboy' of any gadget thing. I mean, they're only companies - whatever is best i'll like more.

Comparison in a POSITIVE light is fine. No problem with that, it's when people talk as if they were expecting the G1 to be an iPhone that squeezes my cherries (?)

Competition is good for US though, it increases quality, price, speed, yadda yadda yadda. Ultimately whatever suits your needs best is what you hold higher in regard.

it's about as bad as 360 vs. ps3 fanboys. i really don't care. they're both nice phones, just like i think the ps3 and 360 are both tight. some people are just real petty and hate on stuff they don't have.

Thats true. I just wonder, would there be any software bridge between iPhone and G1? It would help make direct comparisons when they are valid.
