A file manager would be awesome...somehow I think we'll see that as we see the ability to move apps off the internal memory. wish I could do more on this.
So ive been messing with the G1 since yesterday and loving it.
One odd thing though. I tried downloading a ZIP file out of curiosity. It downloaded fine and showed in the "downloads" section of the browser. But where did the actual file go? Theres no file browser on the G1 yet. So now i have a zip file sitting on the phone that i cant touch (delete/open/move)?
So anything but music and pictures is non-deleteable... that doesnt make much sense?

ASUS eee Pad Transformer en route!! T-mobile G2 in hand, N1 on loan to my daughter. G1 on ice.
Yes, precious...my Transformer is almost here...now if only T-mobile would roll out Gingerbread for my G2 already!!
I'd suggest connecting it to ur PC via USB to see if the file downloaded to a newly created "Downloads" folder on ur microSD card.
I was wondering the same thing, but I can't really blame Google for not including one. No matter how much effort they spent building the coolest, slickest file manager ever, it's not their prime focus so eventually someone out there will make a better one which would mean Google's effort was wasted in the long run. I'd rather see them spend their time doing things that no one else can do or would think of.
If we're patient, someone will make one and it's not a huge priority to have it right now, is it?
file manager would be nice
it kinda should be a priority. I mean, as of now. I just downloaded a file that i cant see or touch. What if it was a 50MB file? that would lock my phone up and i wouldnt be able to download more apps.
I dunno i find file managers to be somewhat important, especially if they intend for the G1 to be a "pocket computer" of sorts.
I also find it odd that i cant move items to my SD card. But oh well.. i guess ill be patient and wait for all this stuff to get fixxed.
There are several file managers on the market right now, but only one claims to be able to send attachments -- "Astro", but the current version is screwed up. However, I'll keep looking for the next update. Linda File Manager is good (originally Android File Manager), but you still have no ability to send attachments (other than pictures of you foot etc).
I wonder with the update coming early janurary, if that option to go into app managment and see running process, if you'll be able to click those processes and end them...
