    Default email notification sounds

How do I set the received email notification sound? Or does it have to be the same for ALL notifications. Specifically, can I set one sound for one contact and a different sound for a different contact?

I don't know if you can set a different notification for each contact, but you can have different notification sounds for email and SMS etc.

Where do you set the sound for SMS and email specifically? All I see is the generic "notification ringtone" and generic "ringer volume".

You can set different ringtone for each contact by going to "edit contact"

All of the alerts for my phone email, sms, and others were all the exact same and I looked ALL OVER to see if they can be changed.. But to no avail...

OK, if you want to set a specific notification for gmail, start gmail, press menu, go to settings > Ringtone.

For SMS, start messaging, press menu, go to settings > ringtone

Select a notification other than default for these two, and thats the one it will use. Then your POP/IMAP email accounts will use the Default notification sound.

Is there a way that you can ad more sounds? I've have some .wav files, but they don't show up as in the listing. I don't want to use any of the default sounds.

There is an app for taking your mp3s and snipping them into ring tones. You can find the app in Market under the subheading Tools (Rings Extended) - but feedback on the app is iffy at best. I'd hang tight and wait for a revamp from the developer, or perhaps another contender with a solid solution.
