Default DRM Issues on Android (T-Mobile G1)

    Hi,

If you go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>
There is a program called "DRM protected content storage."
What does this program do? I imagine that this program can be removed?
I use a Microsoft Zune and have the unlimited $15/mo plan. Unfortunately, all songs are DRM-protected so they won't play on the G-1. Will uninstalling this program fix this?

Microsoft would have to provide software to allow Zune music to play on the G1 as they are the holders of the DRM- and I highly doubt that will happen... (

(beside the fact that Microsoft and Google aren't very friendly, I don't know if there is a way to maintain their DRM software- and keep the RIAA happy- on an open-source platform)

iPod owners have felt the same pain as the Apple DRM works solely with Apple iPod/iPhone devices (unless you opted for the 'non-DRM version of music in the iTunes store).

Don't buy DRM protected music. Once the company with the DRM registration servers goes down or decides you are not worthy any more, or when you buy a different device, you loose all your stuff. Buy the MP3 files from Amazon or iTunes plus, boycott DRM. It doesn't work.

Well the zune pass does give 10 songs per month. I use tmo wing and i can transfer the songs with zune pass (with DRM) onto my phone. I have to use windows media player to do the sync so only the songs are transferred. The channels and playlists dont get transferred from the zune software.

why not just use your zune for music?

kinda off topic, but i love my zune pass, i just got rid of all the albums i dld this year that were crap (654 albums btw)

now I've been using my 10 'free' per month to 'buy' the 7 or 8 quality albums i got this year

I got offended just seeing an app running that said it was DRM management.

DRM and the content MAFIAA are a cancer upon intellectual property rights.
