1 - don't ask how, but I formatted my original sd card with my phone. Is there anything stored (rather, was) on the sd that came on the g1 I will need?

2 - I plan to root. Can I do this with my original sd card with no consequences?

3 - if I upgrade my sd card later, can I just swap in the new card and it not effect my root?

4 - trying to decide between JF and Cyan. Can cyan do anything JF can't?

5 - I really want my g1 to look like hero. Best way to do this?

Don't use your original card that came with the phone for Apps2sd. It's too slow.

no

you can, but you might see some lag if you use it for apps2sd. it's only a class 2 card.

yes, but if you had apps installed to sdcard, you will need to redo the apps2sd process. no big deal. you won't lose root though.
