I have noticed it, but to be honest, I don't consider it a pain to bring it back up. All I do is a quick swipe and there it is.
Has anyone else experienced the screen timeout during a call? I never thought it was a big deal until - had to use the keypad for an automated menu. The screen times out within 5 seconds of call connection and trying to bring up the dialpad to enter options is a major pain in the a$$. Has anybody solved this yet? I am one of the ones whose had his G1 since the 21st and this is my only issue. I considered myself really lucky so far until I tried to pay my Visa by phone. Any ideas would be welcome!
That's what I thought but it's actually a frantic menu button hit, wait for the screen to appear thenaquick swipe. By that time, I inevitably have heard a computerized voice telling me " I'm sorry, I did not hear your response". All I need is a dialer app that does not go blank when I am using the phone. Too much to ask, considering I really think my phone is perfect otherwise?
Yeah...I'd prefer google tweak that a bit as well to leave the dial pad up for the duration of a call unless you explicitly make it go away.
I guess they hide it to prevent users from accidentally hitting "buttons" with their face. With no prox sensor, they have no way to enable/disable the touchscreen as an alternative means of preventing this, so I guess they had no other choice.
Just change the anount of time in the settings.
Yeah, but the dialpad can be minimized on a call without the screen timing out and going black. So when you have to input a number yould just swipe and enter.
yeah its by design so you don't press anything on the screen when the phone is held up to your ear
I've only used one automated system once with my phone and it didn't seem like a big deal hitting menu to get the screen back on tbh at least it doesn't ask you to unlock the phone!! that would be a pain
next time u make a payment over the phone, put the phone on speaker so that way u are holding the phone in ur hand not on your face, so the menu button and quick swipe will be easier to do than taking the phone out of ur ear and pressing the menu button blah blah...u know the drill lol
Once you get used to it, it's no big deal, though i would prefer it not time out.....
