Question Dev edition G1 or Regular Black G1

i have been reading into this dev edition g1 that google is releasing and it seems like a good way to get an unlocked g1, but what i dont understand is why it says:

Note that Android Dev Phone 1 devices are not intended for non-developer end users. Since the devices can be configured with system software not provided by or supported by Google or any other company, end users operate these devices at their own risk.

what could it possibly do that is harmful?? and does any one know if this dev edition g1 will have any kind of warranty?

my other choice is just a good ol' black g1, i use to have a white one but it had a few sunken in keys and a squeaky screen so i decided to sell it to a buddy. but from what i hear the black g1s are less prone to have these common asethic problems. can any one verify this for me? maybe from experiance? i know the visibilty of the keys will greatly be inreased on the black g1, but im more so worried about the sunken keys and creaking screen.

All the colors have creaking and other issues...

It depends on what you're able to deal with.

I choose to deal with the lighting issue on the Bronze

It's probably cheaper to get a regular black G1 and unlock it. Not to mention I highly doubt you'd use any of the features of the hardware unlock.

Actually, the developer's G1 has root access. I found that kind of strange though since the consumer's G1 does not have it.

So why does the developer's G1 has it? hmmm... I guess so the developers will have more inside knowledge how Android OS works I guess...

Interesting... apparently there is a way to convert a regular G1 into a devG1; does that yield root access as well?
