    Default Cupcake: I feel spoiled

I just wanted to get some opinions here. Does anybody else feel spoiled? I have gone through so many phones and none of them have gotten updated as often with as many features/enhancements per update as the G1/android. Granted I got impatient and rooted so I could install cupcake but as sad as it sounds, I am already using it as if I have had it the whole time, and am now waiting for Android 2.0 or for one of our porting friends to move the HTC Hero build. Cupcake has passed and what will become donut is on my mind. BTW, yes I know there is a distinction between Donut and the Hero build, before I get flamed for being completely uninformed.

Does anybody else feel that this phone/google/HTC/T-mo has spoiled us because now we expect feature packed updates often? I only ask bc a friend still has the T-mo Wing (DONT ASK WHY) and is complaining about how they have only gotten 1 update (the one from April last year that they had to download, not pushed and IT ERASED THEIR PHONE), whereas we have gotten what 3 including cupcake, within 7 months barring another pushback, and none of which erase our phones.

Lastly, just to state, I love my G1. I have had so many arguments because it is "ugly" . I really think they should have just called it the HTC Frankenstein. Only looks a little weird because they crammed all the best parts of a Blackberry, Iphone, and sidekick (same style keyboard) into it. Sometimes, that kinda functionality can't be as sexy as our Iphone brethren but then again, they cant do half of what we can (snaps open keyboard and smiles).

I agree, every update improves the phone dramatically, but I also keep in mind the fact that most of the improvements really should have been there from the beginning. Cupcake should have been at launch, really, everyone pretty much knows that 1.0-1.1 were buggy. Still, I love the little guy, and really look forward to any Hero updates we may get.

I as well. The cupcake VK has exceeded my expectations, the select/copy/paste feature is simple yet brilliant, and I'm experiencing almost none of that annoying homescreen lag that I'd grown accustomed to.

I guess where I get upset is, most people forget how bad the reviews were for the original Iphone on launch. I dont, because I followed it like I followed the G1. Now, we are almost at version 1.5, with most of the same functionality that Iphone 3.0 is giving. Also we're looking at 7 months now being compared to a couple of years.

I guess my point is, it always bothers me when I hear people talking about Apple this and Apple that. Everything they have is visually pleasing sure, but in terms of functionality, Windows, or Android, or any other OS can compete.

Talking PC's here, I feel that the only reason Apple can claim less virus infection and crashes and whatnot is because the install base is low, the software is meticulously programmed to be MAC capable, and those who use Macs are typically not doing some of the stupid things that the much larger (and thus more all encompassing) base of windows users is doing. If Macs had most of the market, they would be virus ridden and crashing due to a single operating system mixed with thousands of configurations which you have no control over.

That's my issue with this phone. I think TMo and Google have been deceptive in their advertising (iPhone too, BTW). The Bluetooth on the phone is for toys only, and should have the ability to transfer data -- can you with Cupcake? Can you receive and download ANY attachments ON THE PHONE via email (K9 does not work on my phone)? Does the wifi finally work? Waiting for a sub-standard product to get its **** together is hardly being spoiled. I, for one, love the physical form of the phone, but if Cupcake can't get us up to at least ground zero, I will have to go out and buy a real Smartphone...

This guy knows what he's talking about. I'm glad that we received updates that fixed, altered, or added features to our phones, but as was said above, our phones should have came with these updates including cupcake. Maybe that's too much to ask, but it would have been a great gesture.

On the spoiled topic, I just think that people might feel spoiled recently due to cupcake and the unveiling of "rosie."

see everyones all hyped up on that... i'm not

get a psp if you want portable games, nothing on a phone is ever gonna be THAT great anyways

    need a ton of apps?

get a netbook, they're small and can do almost anything that a bigger laptop can do (aside from most games)

    get lost all the time?

you should always have a gps in your car

..... these smart phones to me, are great.. little game entertainment, gps if your in a bind, some programs here and there to help life be a little easier, but all in all... i don't think our market is THAT bad

all the apps iphone has is pretty much garbage, you need helping picking what you wanna eat? maybe you shouldn't eat.... idk, i just think its kinda foolish :P
