Contacts Sync

I've made some updates to my contacts in GMail such as adding pics and email addresses. Now my G1 has had the sync icon on the notification bar for the last 2 days and some of the contacts are still not updated.

Side note, I still have not received the RC29 OTA update either. Could these 2 things be conflicting each other?

I don't know how to break this to you, but... you are basically SOL. I have had the exact same problem. RC28 (now RC29) is supposed to fix this. But if you don't have it, the only way to fix it is to do a factory reset. I did it, and had to reload all my apps and settings. It's a pain in the ass. So depending on how badly you want your G1 to work correctly, you can either press the kill button or wait for the "rumored" OTA RC29.

Yeah. It only affects some people. It doesn't make much sense if you ask me. But that's just the way it turned out. Check out my other thread for a list of all the fixes in RC28.

I'm not sure if we are experiencing the same problem but I have a similar issue if not exact. In my settings > data synchronization > Contacts > just that tab will not Synch it has a little synch icon with a little red exlimation point next to it and it says ----synch is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly. I have turned my phone on and off multiple times and tried un synching all the other s like gmail and calenedar. I do receive my gmails that i have impa forwarded from my pop account and my regular gmails, but wondering what is causing this error also, and furthermore if it is preventing some of my contacts info or pictures from being updated?

One thought on this is that I was recently messing around with my saved contacts on Gmail on another computer trying to give all my contacts, pictures so they will synch with the phone, I also think thats the same date this error occured, hmmmmm

Well, I'm gonna make one last update to my contacts so they're all in GMail and then factory reset. Hopefully I'll get the update before it tries to sync again.

Unfortunately, that IS the same issue. This is exactly how I screwed up my G1 a week ago. So, you can either do the factory reset today, or wait to get your RC29 fix 4 days from now. If you have a lot of apps, then just wait for the update. The reset will erase everything.

Thanks for the heads up I was afraid of that, i have to much on my phone to do a reset as of now so I will wait for the update, which I hope fixes it.

Alright. I did a factory reset, all of my contacts synched nicely and now i'm patiently awaiting my update.
