Oh hey -- You may have already thought of this -- But what I ended up doing, is just allowing it to sync all contacts, and then on the contacts list in android, you can filter it so it only displays contacts with phone numbers. This pretty much filters out all the auto-contacts gmail creates.

Open contacts, hit menu, select display group. If you choose contacts with phone numbers, it will only show the contacts you have that also contain phone numbers.

This will allow you to sync all contacts and not have those email addresses you sent an email once to show up in your phone's contacts.

Looks like I didnt see the second page....oh well.

I have the same problem with new contacts disappearing but they pop up in the "To" box when I'm txting. Then when I go to look for them again in contacts - thinking that they've miraculously reappeared - they aren't there
So these contacts haven't totally disappeared because I can still txt to them. It's just that they are no longer a "contact" in contacts - they are just ghosts in the machine lol

The reason they show up in txting is probably because you texted the person before the contact was removed from the phones contact list. And there is probably a separate list, that is kept of all the numbers you have recently texted. So even though the contact is not on your phone, its still in your recent texted list.

Anyway -- this problem has been figured out so, if you are having the disappearing contacts problem, then most likely you need the answer in post #3 above.

I was having this same problem for almost a year.

I just figured out how to fix it.

Open your "Contacts". Press menu then go to "Display Options". Under the heading "Choose Contacts to Display" should be a list of all the accounts synced to your phone. Click on the accounts then check the box next to "All Contacts".

This should then display all the contacts you save into your phone.
