The G1 and Android is a disappointment at best.

I found his review to be accurate for the most part, but alot of those things he was complaining about was, for the most part, because he didn't know how to use the phone, nothing reading the instruction manual wouldn't fix. "Deleting apps is harder then it looks". Dude is trying to delete shortcuts off of the home screen. THAT's NOT EVEN HOW YOU DELETE APPS ON WINDOWS YOU GOOFBALL, which leads me to believe this guy is no technical expert. But he did have alot of good points, but again, when the Iphone first came out, the reviews were just as horrible.

Wasn't the iphone one of the top 10 worst products when it came out? I remember reading this, but I can't remember where. I remember reading hundreds of horrible reviews when the iphone came out. Yea Google should have learned alot from apple, but anyone with any kind of development experience knows, WHAT HAPPENS IN A TEST ENVIRONMENT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE PRODUCTION FLOOR. I don't care how many times I've tested something and it works perfectly, but sure enough it hits the production floor and everything goes to ****.

And seriously dude, if you weren't threatened by the G1, you wouldn't be here putting up such an effort to defend the iphone. If you weren't worried about it, you wouldn't be. If you don't like the phone, fine, go back to ilovetheiphonewithallmyheart.com . There's no arguing with you...obviously, because the iphone is your Jesus, and that's fine, idolize your phone.

All the rest of us will continue to enjoy our G1 for what it is...a phone not made for everybody, but a phone made for us.

Doesn't make any sense and dumb? How old are you, or can you not read very well?

Read the business pages instead of the cartoons. Read anything regarding the marketing scheme with the itouch vs. the iphone. Why buy an mp3 and a phone seperately, when for a little more you can have both, in one device, that for the most part, do exactly the same thing?

Seriously dude, watch the news every once and a while. It's a fact. itouch sales are in the toilet since the iphone prices dropped.

I came from a sidekick, to an Iphone, back to a sidekick, then to the G1. Of course there is going to be a learning curve - especially when you are used to multi-touch. Since the G1 and Android is open source, you just may see multi-touch come 3rd party. Not to mention a possible on screen KB for banging out simple responses to txt or email.

It would make sense, after all.. the G1 is the kitchen sink of input.

Errr?? Who said the G1 is technologically more advanced? You arbitrarily discount features that people demand from today's smart phones.

Modern doesn't always equal best. If you read my earlier post I am an Industrial Designer and I deal in modern technology all day long. This device is far from modern or best in any way, shape or form.
You are not really making your case here. You say you're complaining about the technology, but then go back to its appearance. How is this phone not modern?

this phone is on par and will surpass an iphone. the applications and the ease of use I've had the phone since 8am this morning and I've figured it out for the part. I definitely like it better and I've used my friends iphones yes they r pretty and have a virtual keyboard but android will have one shortly then what? they'll both have virtual keyboards. then the ability to record videos wil come too...iphones i believe can't and never will b/c of the closed source of it.
androids will be in the minority of ppl who want their phones to do more than look nice and be easy.
    different strokes for different folks.

harder to pick up at first, settings &navigating through is sort of not user friendly or isn't as much as it is on the iPhone, takes a while to get to options.

you are really slow my friend
    not everyone wants at&t service
not everyone wants only 16gb of space
not everyone want a phone plus music in one if they are heavy music listeners(battery life)
    not everyone likes at&t coverage
not everyone wants to buy a phone to experience touch
not everyone like the ipod-like physique as a phone
not everyone wants to buy a phone to have a top of the line portable browser
not everyone likes at&t service plans

and not everyone has a brain apparantly

    heres my phone experience.

    hitachi g1000 pda
    htc 6600 win mo
    htc 6700 win mo
    htc 6800 win mo
    htc 6900 win mo
    back to the 6800
    iphone 3g
    htc g1 android

all with the exception of the 6900 and the 3g , had a
    physical keyboard.

im so far very happy that im typing this on the android
    g1.

i hardly ever typed on my 3g.

the 3g is slick, but its aimed at the average non geek consumer
i want to tweak and mess with my phones. i used to be a very
avid postet on ppcgeeks. com as well as xda-developers. com

i then got the 3g iphone and started in the everythingicafe. com
forums. but even afterpwning the phone, i became soo bored with it.
i realized that i was tired of it, when i found myself no longer going to the
    iphone forums.

this g1 phone has alot going for it. i will be replacing it with a black g1 tomm
. as the brown keyboard is impossible to type eith.

i have had tons of misstyped letters in this very post.

    cheers

Pretty easy to believe if you ask me. My G1 is still in the box, but having used my girlfriend's iphone I can't understand what the fuss about it is AT ALL. Seems passable to me, but not much more, and definitely not something that I can't imagine being surpassed relatively easily.

YUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP apple better wake up haa

shoat my bet is they are wide awake and got a time table set up on when they expect the android to do some real damge and then make changes. i swear apple pisses me off. but **** its a business. i try to make myself remember that when i get pissed at them. haaa

Yea the g1 isn't as pretty or stylish, but to must of us that bought the G1, that's not what's important.

Android=evolution of the phone. It's caveman right now(not even one day old since its release), and already being compared to the iphone. I can't imagine this phone in a year or two.
i am still waiting to see how an app on the g1 gonna work on a small ass flip phone running android. thats gonna have a lot of affect on a developer creating apps for android.
