I just now discovered that Tmobile had me set to the no-messages data plan for my G1 when I *know* I had preordered it with the 400msg plan..

in fact, looking back on an old bill, I can see a notation of "presale G1 400msg"

I had even asked some retail store rep to confirm my msging plan about a month ago, and they had said I was on the 400.

well... guess what, I've been getting charged .20cents a message up til today.

Called up custserv and had them credit back over $50 in message charges..

you gotta watch Tmobile..


I think this G1 data plan with no messaging exists for the sole purpose of screwing people who arent paying attention.

I think this G1 data plan with no messaging exists for the sole purpose of screwing people who arent paying attention.

You should be able to have them fix it without any issues. The G1 requires of two data plans, at the time of purchase. You either have to have the 24.99 plan which has 400 messages, or the unlimited plan that has unlimited messages.

If the 50 isn't enough to fix the charges they wrongfully applied to you, threaten to cancel your account and they will fix it.

I've never had issues with T-moble correcting mistakes, they have always had great service. I wouldn't take it so personally.

actually im pretty sure it exists for people who already have an unlimited family messaging plan and do not need 400 aditional text.

actually- there are THREE plans..

$24.99 unlim data w 400 msg

$34.99 unlimited everything

AND

$24.99 unlim data w NO messages <-- thats what they stuck me with

unless they changed the plans within two weeks of me working there, ( i was seasonal) the unlimited plan is 34.99.


the 24.99 with no messaging is not in fact a g1 plan, it's a smartphone plan. someone did you wrong. the g1 plan that is 24.99 SHOULD have the 400 texts included.

yeah who knows what that other plan is- but in a totally unrelated call, to setup my wife's G1 with a data plan- they offered me the above 3 as well.. including the one with no messages for $24.99.. like anyone would want that.


anyway, i just wanted to give people a headsup that it is possible to get charged for texts with a G1 if they bungled your setup..

There are only two legit plans for the G1. If they gave you the standard data, it was a mistake and they will fix it with money, refunds, or whatever is needed to keep you happy.

They made a mistake for me when I signed up as well, and kept my blackberry plan. I called, yelled, they fixed made right. Wasn't a big deal.

Mistakes happen, I wouldn't take it so personally. They will fix it (if they haven't already) and make sure your happy.
