Changing the default browser

Hi !

I have an HTC Hero on Orange UK, running the factory ROM etc. I'd like to change my default browser so that links in tweets, texts etc fire up Opera Mini (which is SO much faster than the onboard browser).

Have looked through every setting page I can think of and can't see any way of doing it. Has anyone else found a way?

I'd rather not start changing ROMs by the way as I'm not technical enough to do it sensibly !

Opera Mini is the only browser made for the Android OS that cannot be set as the default browser. It has something to do with the way the browser is made, it can't be launched from outside links. The stock browser, dolphin, xscope, steel...etc, can all be made default, just not Opera.

hm, opera mini 5 was really hyped when it came out; haven't gotten around to trying it.

if cyberstorm is right, and you can't find a way to set it as your default, you should probably try out dolphin (i really like it) or xscope (it's had some really good reviews). i used to love steel, but lack of updates is killing it...

That's probably the one thing that holds back Opera as my main browser. It's really nice but no default, no dice.
