I too have this issue
Problem 1 - G1 won't let me send an email. (It will let me reply to emails I've received) I've tried both my accounts to send, to multiple addresses (both in address book and ones I type in manually) and I keep getting the following error: "You must add at least one recipient." or when I've put in the email, when I go to subject line or text box, the email I just selected/typed in disappears. My husband successully sent an email last night from my phone when he was playing around with it but I didn't see how he did it.
Problem 2 - Is anybody else getting lots of connection errors when trying to check for email? I have my email accounts set so that I manually check them and more often than not, I get the "connection error" message.
Thoughts?
I too have this issue
I too have the problem. First I thought it was because of k-9, but I uninstalled it and the problem persists. I occurrs if the recipient (s) are selected from the suggestions that appear when you yype part of their name. If I type their address manually or use the contacts app to start the mail app there doesn't seem to be a problem. Aaaargh!

I'm troubleshooting this issue. I have 1000+ contacts. When I hard reset the phone and signed in with another gmail account with far fewer contacts there is no problem.
How many contacts do you guys have?
I've just started to get one connection error message and now everytime I check my mail through the non-gmail account I get connection error. I am also having a hell of a time actually sending out an email. Everything just sits there in the outbox. I'm not sure how to fix this.
The only fix for the connection error problem seems to be to power cycle the phone. It's a T-mo problem, many people are suffering.
Seems the number of contacts have no effect on the disappearing recipient problem. It must have something to do with how my contacts are stored on Gmail.
I actually had this problem during the 2nd update/upgrade from k9. Installed-reinstalled-installed-reinstalled. Finally, I just gave up! Switched back to the regular email app and I didn't get the error connection anymore. I do miss k-9 coz I love having a signature not just on the gmail but also my other emails

Same issue here. I can't seem to connect to the server at all. And when I try sending an email I get error message (in the K-9 errors folder) HTTP/1.1 440 Login Timeout.
PS: On my corporate email account, I have to except the security certificate when connecting to the webmail.
Damn, get a proper exchange push client out there... sure it will be a good competitive boost for Android.
Anyways, touchdown free version seems to work; atleast to just read emails for now!
Help!
I am having the same problem. I think it has something to do with the AUTOCOMPLETE function that automactically fills in possible contacts.
It is weird. I am able to send emails when I actually type out the email. But if I let the autocomplete fill-in the To: field, it will not send. It gives me the same "You must add at least one recipient." error discussed above.
Any ideas?
