Can HTC G2 be unlocked for developers?

Hi,
I need an hardware unlocked Android phone (which can be flashed, new/custom android build can be loaded/ updated). For this I want to buy HTC G2 phone with 288MB RAM. But the developers phone is not available in my place now. But I can buy the end user's models.

My question is- is it possible to unlock the HTC G2 phone (with 288MB RAM version) ? Please tell me how it can be done. Can I install custom build android OS?

Please tell me where to find the resources to unlock hardware of HTC G2.
