Talking Battery seems to be lasting way longer

idk for some strange reason my battery is starting to last waaaay longer then before

i remember reading somewhere that if you let your phone die, when you first get it
then charge it for about 3 hours, that it would last way longer ..well yeah i did that and by the time i took it off the charger it was at a 100%

then about 3 hours of me playing with the phone going on aim, playing bonsai blast, sending a couple texts, browsing etc... my phone was at like 15%

so then i put it back on the charger (by the way i was charging it from my laptop)
i left it charging for about another 3 hours. i took it off , and started doing the same as i was doing before and again it died!

so last night i said f*ck it! lol i couldn't find my usb cable so i went and got my wall charger from out of the box, i plug'ed it in and let my phone charge over night. i woke up this morning at 7:30am unplug'ed it and signed on aim, sent a couple more txt messages, and turned on the gps to help me find the nearest partycity,i did some browsing, watched a couple youtube videos, i made and received a couple of calls (i turned on the speaker phone for both calls)
1 call lasted for about 30 minutes and the other call was only about 15 minutes

well basically i've been using my phone HEAVILY today and it still hasn't died! its 7:43pm right now and my battery is at 65% i'm still in shock! idk if because i used the wall charger for the first time and maybe its just more effective then charging it from the computer.... or if its because i let it charge over night

yup, and the battery seems to be getting "broken in". I have no idea if that cuz something has chemically happened in the battery or if the phone is programmed to change the charging method dependent on up-time, but hey . . . whatever the cause, it's good!

    Same here.

Charged my G1 overnight, unplugged it at 7am, and have been using it pretty heavily all day.

Numerous phone calls (1 call lasted 30 minutes), my son has been playing pacman, viewing videos, browsing the web and just generally playing on my G1.

    It's now 5pm, and I have 40% charge remaining!

I have turned off 3G while not in user, but wifi and GPS have both remained on.

    Not too bad at all....!

same here, i was initially getting less-than-acceptable battery life, but now two days later after a few cycles i see it lasting a lot longer than i would have predicted!

today i woke up at 9am, and took it off the charger. 11 hours later (8pm now) and it is at 52%. This device just MAY make it though a whole day!

I don't know about heavy usage, but with light usage the battery has been kick ass I've had it off the charger since 10 am yesterday (haven't turned it off or anything) and its 8:25pm the next day, and I still have about 30-40% left.

    Standby time is pretty awesome.

ditto! I said that in my review update. I think a lot of it has to do with the phone calibrating to the battery. Also I think a lot of people have been treating the phone like its a laptop. You get a new toy you use it a lot more then you would normally. There is not much wrong with the battery life for the type of phone this is. It could use some better battery management. I'm sure that will come from a firmware update soon.

I guarantee you there will be extended batteries for this phone. Especially since the back cover is removable.

I just went 36 hours on a single charge and had 14% left when I plugged in. The battery is definitely coming around. Could be one less thing in the con's column. YAY!!! I really want the G1 to work out.
