I have to agree... the battery life is pretty disappointing.GPS works great, though.

I received my G1 yesterday at about 5pm. I did not power it on...I put it straight on the charger and let it charger overnight till about 6am this morning.
The charge light was green (while powered off) which verified a nice (should be full) charge.
However, I checked my e-mail, watched a 3min youtube video, and turned on GPS for about 5 minutes while I tried to pinpoint my location (which did not work by the way). I turned off GPS right afterwards. I did not have bluetooth on, nor did I have wifi on. Now I'm at 70% battery life.
How is this possible? The battery is steadily draining and fast.
Not trying to be negative, but I can see this as being very irritating. Also, is anyone having success with "find my location" in maps? I'm in chicago and I havent had success yet with GPS turned on.

your GPS is probably not turned on yet as the 3G isn't technically supposed to launch until the 22nd.
The find my location on my phone is very fast, and extremely accurate.
I used it both at my house, and my inlaws house (inside) and it was accurate to the area in the house i was in. It also worked great following down my street.
As for the battery, it drains extremely fast, its a big issue at this point for me, and i think the only issue (luckily i have a car charger already)
the battery life is horrible
i have the same problem with my phone. the gps works (after the second try using it) however i think it kills the battery life. hopefully the issue will be resolved otherwise most gps applications are going to drain the battery very quickly.
I'm not sure why some people's battery works and some dont? Now mine isn't spectacular, but I listened to music, and WIFI and GPS both on, made a few calls, got a few e-mails, played with maps a bit, and after two hours it went from 99 to 84%.. All in all the battery lasted me about 10 hours listening to music the entire time..

You guys will find that useing turning off 3g as well as the gps will save your battery life alot. Only turn those on if your doing heavy browsing at the moment or if you are actually useing the GPS for a task you are doing. Also try to lower the screen brightness of the phone. I have mine set at 40% and even that is super bright.
Hope this helps.
i don't think i'm going to charge it as soon as i get it.
