    Default APPS2SD + Fail = depression

First off, I apologize in advance for creating a nonsense thread. The purpose of this thread here is to vent to basically whoever's around about my failure to get my apps to move to the sd card.

The story is a long and sordid one, starting with my frustration over days to get a working ext2 partition on my sd card. I have seriously dl'd five or six programs for this purpose, including 4 different versions of Paragon's free, trial, and demo software. The first few versions I dl'd would let me set up the partition, but wouldn't allow me to apply it without buying the program .

Finally, I got a version (PM 9.0 personal trial) that would let me apply my changes in virtual mode, requiring a restart. During the restart I was prompted with a screen that said something like invalid format with the stalled partition/format process in the background. I pressed esc, ad it instructed me, and was brought back into Windows. The partition manager popped up and showed me my sd card with a fat32 partition and a smaller ext2 partition, so I thought "wahoo! It worked!" despite the evil message of doom I had just read. Well, so I tried a few methods through the terminal to try and move the apps to the sd. My first was to us the commands:

    $ su
    # busybox cp -a /data/app /system/sd/

After that second line I got a message telling me it failed to create because I have a read only file system

Anyway, not thinking of the possible consequences, I went to the market and dl'd the app "AppsToSD," opened it, and clicked "move apps to sd card." Well, all of my apps disappeared and never appeared again.

At this time I have done a factory reset on my phone and am starting again from square one. Awesome, huh?

Anyway, I feel much better now, so thank you.

At this point, all of my pent-up ire is currently directed upon HTC for not putting enough damn on-board storage on their device!!! None of this pain would have been necessary if they would have simply put even 1gb of storage on-board. But we all know that and I'm simply rehashing a complaint we all have.

Anyway, i'm not seeking specific guidance, just a means to vent my frustration over the last couple of days of failure, culminating in the loss of all of my applications and the need to reinstall them. Still, if anyone has guidance that they know will work for me, I would love to here it. I'm just sick of trying and failing. I've beat my head against the wall quite enough and it's something quite beyond just a little bit sore.

Thanks for anyone who was willing to endure through and read my entire rant. I hope at least you can find some kind of schaudenfreude type enjoyment out of my predicament.

I feel your pain as i had a heartache of a time learning about APPS2SD. i then went to a Cyra 3.3.5 and all of the sudden it worked. How i don't know and dont care. You should try a Hayro or Cryo build maybe it will help. Just with a Cryo. build it will change your ext2 to ext3 and will nto revert back so beware,

I agree with you. They could at least put maybe 500mb's of internal storage...I mean seriously...Whats the phone have like 80mb? That's lol status...I've been trying to get this Apps2sd thing working as well...I can't seem to get it. :/ I'm not like a command prompt newb either...(er..idk maybe I am compared to some people?) I put hero on my g1...and did the apps2sd thing with terminal while in the Hero Beta 4...And when I switched over I still only had like 7x mb's...so idk if it worked or not. :/

Anyways, good luck with getting apps2sd. If you find out a easy way to do it let me know.

You know what else is frustrating? That NONE of my apps worked after I nandroid back to 6.0.1 from Rosie, NONE.

Had to wipe and start over, including redownloading all apps. Not good, NOT good.

the best way to format is to download a copy of ubuntu (free) and boot from it. Select "try ubuntu with out any change to your system" and then once logged on, open a terminal and type

    sudo gparted

That it the best tool for the job. If you still need help, PM me I would be happy to help.

Same thing here. But after I wiped I have no damn market, so no way of puting apps on the phone until I reflash.

Ok, now Im done beating this dead horse.

Ohh the horrors of phone problems.

Luckily for me, Paragon worked in 5 minutes. My apps and dalvik-cache are saved to the sd card. But my data is not. I think it's corrupted.

    =\
