I'm having this weird problem. When I answer a call with the headphones, the phone goes mute and people can't hear what I'm saying. I have to disconnect and connect the headphones back in to be able to talk. Anyone else having this issue?

That was a typo. I was on the train and in a rush to post before I went underground. Save the insults.
If you look in the Android Market, there might be an application called SENSE OF HUMOR. Download it and put it on your homescreen. It might come in handy.
Also, if you are using the headset that came with the G1 try making sure you don't have the mute button pressed on the headset itself.
I just did some more tests with another heaphones and they don't work properly. It seems to be an issue with the phone.
in my 300 and some posts i've never gotten involved in anyones elses exchange but i just couldn't help myself this time. the only humorous thing in this thread is how desperate u are for a stage to brandish your sarcasm. as sad as it is, its defenitely humorous. what a dig u took ata that guy! man it must suck to be u.

Yeah it's pretty sad when everyone takes themselves so seriously that someone tries to have a little fun and gets totally flamed for it. The guy made a typo and I thought I'd make a funny iphone joke about it. Jesus.
Lighten up, srsly. No one else takes you as seriously as you do.

To try to assist the OP, I personally have used the Seidio adaptor, which comes with an answer button and built in mic.
When a call comes in while I"m listening to music, the music stops. I tap the "answer" button, hold the mic up near my mouth, and I can hear the callers, and they seem to be able to hear me. Haven't had any complaints from them.
I do hear a kind of echo, but that's probably because I"m answering a call, using stereo headphones.
The adaptor I'm using is shown below, and is sold by www.seidioonline.com for around $15.
