So according to that article, because the G1 doesn't have a proximity sensor to know when the phone is up to your face and the G1 widget doesn't use the accelerometer, it makes the G1 app inferior? We have to *gasp* PUSH A BUTTON!?! OH NOES!!
As it says in the comments below that poorly-written article, iPhone users still have to open the application by clicking on it. G1 users have to slide over to that panel and click the microphone button in order to activate it.
Stupid elitism crap like this just irks me.

Also: HI! I'm new 'round these parts. I'm an iPhone convert (picked up my G1 last week) and I'm really liking the OS/phone!
Another also: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area of the forum!

Ok, lets see here:
iPhone- 1. Click on the google app to activate it.
2. lift phone to head ans speak your search terms.
Android-1. Click on the microphone icon on the home screen to activate the program.
2. lift phone to head ans speak your search terms.
Wooooow, the G1 has completely crippled the functionality of this program, why would they even bother putting it on? This guy gets paid to write crap like that?
The guy that wrote that article is a idiot... On the G1 all I have to do is click on the Mic icon in the Google search widget, and speak into the mic.
How well does it track your voice/words by the way?
Is it as inaccurate as the voice dialer?
... it's called a security feature. The button makes sure that you mean to do what the machine thinks you want to do.
For those that don't have a search bar on screen, use AnyCut to create a short cut to Voice Search.
