Default A2DP doesn't connect automatically

I have an A2DP receiver, Sony HWS-BTA2W, which works great with my G1. Pairing was no problem, and I don't seem to be getting the dropouts that people complain about.

The problem for me is, it doesn't connect automatically like a voice headset does. It requires me to fiddle with the menus and go into Settings | Wireless Control | Bluetooth Settings where it says, "paired but not connected" and I have to click on it manually. Then it immediately connects and I can use it.

The problem being, I want to use it in the car and I want it to just connect automatically so I don't have to fiddle with all those menus on the phone when I'm in the car and I decide to listen to music.

If there's no way to get it to connect automatically, is there a way (through a simple app or widget) that I can get it to connect to a specific BT device with one button push?
